Liposuction (Liposculpture)

Liposuction, also known as Liposculpture, is an excellent way to shape, tone and contour specific body areas. Your body won’t replace the fat cells removed from these areas, so each method of liposuction can deliver a long-lasting change to your body shape. Do be aware that liposuction will not remove cellulite or stretch marks and shouldn’t be considered a weight loss method; there is a limit to the amount of fat that can be removed.

The benefits of surgery:

  • Tone and contour specific body areas.
  • Improve appearance.
  • Permanently removes fat cells.
  • Alter body shape.

Liposuction usually takes between one and three hours, depending upon the amount of fat to be removed. Surgical liposuction can be done under local anaesthetic for smaller areas but it more often requires a general anaesthetic, so you may need to stay overnight. Salt water solution is infiltrated into the desired area to be treated to break up the fat before inserting a thin metal tube called a cannula into the area. The fat is sucked out via the cannula using a vacuum pump (liposuction) or a syringe (liposculpture). The tube may need to be inserted a few more times to remove all the fat. The small incisions made often do not require any stitches so will heal by themselves and fade in time.

Dr. Kim can offer Liposuction (Liposculpture) procedures throughout Darlington, Durham, Newcastle, Stockton and Middlesbrough.
